Fight against corruption is the pathway to escape from poverty in Nigeria - Magu

- The EFCC acting chairman Ibrahim Magu spoke on corruption in Nigerian

Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, November 27, said the fight against corruption is the pathway to escape from poverty in Nigeria.

Magu declared that corruption has made Nigeria a laughing stock among committee of nations saying that the fight against corruption is the part way to escape from poverty in the country.

He made this known at the 68th General Assembly of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) in Abuja.

According to him, "It is important to state that the fight against corruption in Nigeria is not a sprint. The deep-seated nature of the malaise makes efforts to tackle it a marathon of sorts & only the committed can last the distance."


''Poverty in the midst of wealth is the paradox of our national existence and corruption is the culprit. We have never been in doubt that checking corruption is the pathway to escape from poverty and squalor."

''The situation where persons invested with public trust, abuse their positions and then seek to evade justice by erecting barricades around themselves is a recipe for anarchy. We will not tolerate that."



Meanwhile, wasaap9ja.blogspot.com had reported that the EFCC arraigned Umar Munir Abubakar, Henry Ekhasomi Sambo, Adebayo Adebowale Aderibigbe, Chief Richard U. Uche and Aderemi Adegboyega before Justice Silvanus Orji of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo in Abuja.


They were arraigned on a 26-count charge, bordering on conspiracy, abuse of office and illegal diversion of public funds.
