Bandits Assaulted Kwara For a Duration Of 10 Hours Prior Bofore The Arrival Of Soldiers – Village Chief

The head of Woro community in Kwara State, Umar Bio Salihu, has said that armed bandits operated for about 10 hours in the area before security operatives arrived, leading to dozens of deaths and the destruction of several villages.

Salihu, who spoke on ARISE Television on Thursday, said the attackers began their operation around 5pm, but soldiers only arrived at about 3am the following day.

The Remaining Abducted Worshippers From Kaduna Regained Freedom

Bandits have reportedly released the remaining worshippers abducted during a Sunday attack on churches in the Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack occurred when armed men invaded three churches in the community during worship services, firing sporadically to instil fear before abducting worshippers and leading them into the surrounding forests.

Over 100 people were feared dead on Tuesday night following a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State by Islamic militants, while several people were also killed after bandits pounced on Abande community in Mbaikyor Ward, Turan, Kwande LG of Benue State.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, however, confirmed the death of 75 persons.

The attack occurred at about 1:00 a.m on Thursday when suspected armed bandits stormed the site with the intention of carting away illegally mined minerals.

Troops of Sector 6, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), were alerted to the incident at about 8:40 a.m. by a local resident and immediately mobilised to the area to restore normalcy.
