Law Enforcement Detains Government Official, Two Monarchs, and Others in Connection with Ebonyi Assault

Police authorities in Ebonyi have arrested the coordinator of Amasiri Development Centre, Anya Baron-Ogbonnia, in Afikpo Local Government Area, and two traditional rulers, over the killings in Okporojo, Edda Local Government Area of the state.

Four people were beheaded during the attack. The Ebonyi Police Command’s spokesman, Joshua Ukandu, identified the traditional rulers as Onyaidam Bassey and Godfrey Oko-Obia.

Man Brutally Murders Villager Due To An Affair With His Wife In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Hassan Umaru, for allegedly hacking a fellow villager, Sukari Abdul, 45, to death over suspicion of an affair involving his wife.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the incident occurred on February 1, 2026, at about 12:30 p.m. in Bundila Village, Gulani Local Government Area of the state.

‘One chance’ is commonly used in Nigeria to refer to a form of organised robbery where criminals pose as commercial drivers and passengers to lure victims into a vehicle before robbing, assaulting, or kidnapping them.

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested three notorious kidnap suspects linked to a spate of deadly abductions in Abuja and neighboring states.

According to a statement signed by the Force PPRO, Abuja Command, SP Josephine Adeh, on Thursday, the suspects, 27 years old Ya’u Shittu from Kaduna State; 30 years old Sale Usman from Niger State; and 28 years old Ibrahim Abdullahi from Abuja, were captured during sting operations carried out between June 13 and 18, 2025, in Kaduna, Niger, and Nasarawa states by the Command’s elite Scorpion Squad.
